Public Policy Training Institute

The Maytree Public Policy Training Institute is an innovative training program designed for individuals and organizations with a demonstrated interest and engagement in public policy. The program is aimed at participants who can articulate an issue where policy change could have a significant progressive impact.

About the Program

The program includes a series of five modules, of one or two days each, with leading public policy experts. Additional one-on-one coaching is offered to participants so they can access personalized advice and support to develop a policy-ready position on a given issue by the program’s end.

Upon completion of the program, participants will possess the knowledge and skills required to develop, influence and monitor public policy on issues relevant to their communities of interest.

Naomi Alboim, a fellow, adjunct professor and vice chair of the Policy Forum at the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University, is the course director.

The faculty also includes:

  • Sarah Flicker, Professor, York University
  • John Stapleton, former Research Director of the Task Force Modernizing Income Security for Working-Age Adults, recipient, Metcalf Innovation Fellowship and St. Christopher House Fellow
  • Sean Moore, former Public Policy Advisor, Gowling, Lafleur, Henderson LLP
  • Randy McLean, Economic Development Division, City of Toronto

Participants

The program will be of interest to staff, board members or volunteers employed by/associated with non-profit organizations who can clearly articulate an interest in an issue where policy change could have a significant progressive impact.

Program graduates become members of the Maytree Leadership Network.
